The design derives from the assembly of
two forms; a truncated triangular prism and
a landscaped bridge which spans over the
main public spaces and exhibition area, and
connects the waterfront with the city.
The site is on reclaimed land that forms part
of a planned city that owes its form to strong
engineering imperatives both in its geometric
form and the character of its streets.
Extensive parkland is located to the east of the
site and a man-made waterway to the south.
The dominant triangular prism responds to the formally planned city, creating a break and counterpoint to the geometry of the roads,
waterway and city buildings. It is understood that it will be viewed from above. Its vertices and sides respond to key vistas and interfaces in
the fabric of the city. The bridge is an extension of the parkland that surrounds the site.
